What Is Parapsychology

By , black-rose-bielefeld.de Guide

Definition:

Parapsychology involves studying phenomena that are beyond the known sensory and cognitive abilities including topics such as near-death experiences, psychic abilities, out-of-body experiences, precognition and psychokinesis.

Parapsychology lies outside the realm of mainstream psychology and is regarded by many as a pseudoscience. However, it is studied in privately funded research laboratories in the U.S., the United Kingdom and other countries. There are also several parapsychology journals including the Journal of Parapsychology and the Journal of Consciousness Studies.
