An addition is a condition characterized by chronic drug-seeking behavior as well as abuse of drugs, alcohol or other chemical substances. Symptoms usually include an intense psychological fixation with acquiring and using drugs. Definitions of addiction usually focus on the psychological craving for the drug rather than the physiological withdrawal symptoms caused by the removal of the drug.
