Definition: The concrete operational stage is the third stage in Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development. This period of develop lasts roughly between the ages of 7 and 11 and is characterized by inductive logic and concrete thinking. At this age, kids become better at thinking about concrete events, but may still struggle to understand hypothetical concepts.
