While people often think that working in psychology automatically means working in the field of psychotherapy, there are plenty of great career options outside of mental health. Research is one big area in which many students express interest. If you enjoy investigating psychological phenomena and performing experiments, then you might want to think about exploring careers in this area.

Like many other careers in psychology, the educational path you follow will depend largely on your interests and goals. For example, if your research interests are centered on child psychology then you might want to earn a doctorate degree in developmental or educational psychology.

If you do have an interest in this type of career, then it is important to start thinking now about the classes that might help you in the future. During your undergraduate years, classes in statistics, experimental psychology, and research methods can be especially helpful.
