Summer is just around the corner and many of our readers are looking forward to a couple of months of rest and relaxation. That doesn't mean that you should stop learning, however.
Have you ever walked back into class at the start of the fall semester and wondered how you managed to forget so many of the things you learned the year before? Summer brain drain, known to teachers as "summer learning loss," refers to a loss of skills that happens over the course of the summer. It's common in young kids, but high school and college students experience it as well.
So what can you do to ensure that your skills stay sharp over the summer? You certainly don't have to spend your vacation months with your face buried in a psychology textbook, but investing a little time each week reviewing what you already know can make things a lot easier when it comes time to go back to school.
Of course, we'll be here all summer long keeping you updated with new psychology articles and resources. Don't forget to bookmark this site and to join us over on the About Psychology Facebook page, where we'll be posting updates, quizzes, news, and psychology trivia each and every day.
