Writing an essay can be tough, especially you've never completed one in APA format. Before you even begin writing, you should spend a little time becoming more familiar with some of the basics of APA format. However, you should always check the guidelines and instructions provided by your teacher for the specific requirements for each assignment.
Your essay should include:
- Uniform margins of at least one-inch on the left, right, top and bottom of every page.
- Double-spacing on all pages including references.
- A running head in the top left corner and page numbers in the top right corner of each page.

recommending ?at least? margins of 1 inch will get you in trouble. i just lost a point on a paper for having side margins of 1.25?.
the new 2012 version of APA says 1? margins all around. it was in the past that they allowed 1.25 and even up to 1.5 margins.
oops!
Actually, page 229 of the sixth edition of the APA publication manual directs writers to ?leave uniform margins of AT LEAST 1 inch. (2.54 cm) at the top, bottom, left, and right of every page.? Uniformity, is the key word there.
Might be time to argue your case to get that lost point back.
