Because there is so much diversity in psychology careers, earnings and salaries vary greatly depending upon factors such as specialty area, the degree held and the sector of employment. According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook, median earnings for psychologists in 2008 were $64,140 for clinical, counseling and school psychologists.
