The bias toward Psychology here is disturbing, as many of us have devoted our lives to psychotherapy and everything a psychologist does other than psychological testing.
I am certain my training as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker has led me to be a better clinican than I?d have been had I continued as a graduate student in Psychology. I work as an equal with psychologists and psychiatrists, as well as many Marriage, Family and Child Therapists.
People should consider ALL of their options and consider how much hands-on training they will receive.

Students interested in mental health professions should always consider which area of study is best suited to their own unique interests and goals. The article isn?t intended to suggest that psychology graduate study is better than other programs such as social work, counseling, or psychotherapy. Rather, it is geared toward students who have already decided to pursue psychology at the graduate level.
